N.J. vs. NY (Garden City, Chatham: good schools, garden, safe)

We are trying to decide between Chatham,N.J. and Garden City, N.Y. Both seem nice with good schools and a 45 train ride to NYC. Let me know what you think!

I see that you were inquiring about connecicut at one point. hee's an idea, Fairfield. It's about another 15 minutes on the train, but the community and town is GREAT and so are the beaches and schools. Safe and right next to Westport too. Many NYC commuters. CNN rated it no. 9 this year and Google no. 5 in 2005. New Canaan-like but much better and the people are less phony.
