The Superstorm Sandy Property Tax Relief Checks are FINALLY in the Mail
They started mailing them yesterday!!!!

In the next week 6,700 Nassau homeowners whose properties were damaged by superstorm Sandy two years ago will get tax refund checks averaging $3,100 each.

Five percent of property owners will get checks for over $5,000. Long Beach alone is getting over1,300 checks.

Another 2,000 folks are in review status and will be released in January. If all 2,000 folks in review get checks we are up to 9,700 in checks!!! Good Boost to economy and will help folks rebuild and pay bills.

I just took 10K of check and threw it in the 529 plan for kids today.

Any tips on what to do with remaining two thousand bucks?

It will be taxable income as it is a refund of RE taxes paid in prior years I already deducted. Already maxed out 401k, Flex spending and transit check so looking for other tax advantaged things.

Dont want to be like neghbors crying come tax time
