I have people coming to visit from out of state for the holidays and one of them mentioned she would like to visit some historical sites that are decorated for Xmas to go to. Last year we went to Old Bethpage Village Restoration. I already looked in the Newday "Explore LI" and didn't find anything. So if anyone can recommend their favorites to me I'd appreciate it.

Another thing is I would like is recommendations of neighborhoods to go look at that have lots of Xmas lights up.

TIA!

If you go thru GC don't miss the house on Cherry Valley Avenue, across from the Windham Condos and right next to the men's club - they have life sized decorations on their front lawn. I always love that house at the holidays. Then around the corner on 10th Street (making a right if the condos are on your right) there are a couple of houses - one has Sesame Street characters and another (or maybe it's the same) has carousel horses out front.

THere's a house on Stewart, on the southeast corner with Nassau Blvd that has life sized wooden soldiers out front.

There's also a house in the western section that has a display timed to music - you can tune into the music on your car radio. It's on either Lincoln or Jackson at the intersection with Yale.

I hear Roslyn has a lot of Christmas lights.

Just kidding. Try Franklin Square, or Floral Park. Whole damn towns are lit up.

I actually saw Dyker Heights on a TV special about Christmas across the country.

What streets in Dyker Heights? Drive through or park and walk through?

Not really an area, but the Bayport light show is pretty cool, especially for kids. Check it out.

As far as areas, not too sure on anything specific that stands out. Garden City would be my first stop.

ps- Anyone know if the Jones Beach light show is ever coming back?

I was going to suggest Dyker Heights also. It's all residential so it's a nice walk...11th Avenue to 13th Avenue and from 83rd to 86th Street. I remember going there many, many years ago. It really is a sight to see (assuming it hasn't changed).
