Yes but not like the violent gangs of today. At least that's what I remember when I was in HS.I don't any of these fraternities killed anyone.

I remember a few of these "fraternities" in the Elmont, Floral Park area. Pretty clownish. Members were from the bottom of the social food chain.

I suppose people in high school fraternities thought they were a big deal. But most people had no idea they existed.

Sort of like HS robotics clubs today. Don’t laugh, those kids take it very very seriously (some wear matching sweatshirts) and the robot fights are epic (for those involved).

I was a mentor for an HS robotics club! You are correct, a little bit cultish and elitist.

There was an "Omega" something or other in the HS I attended. They had their own "Lounge" not much bigger than a broom closet where they would do "initiations". It seemed to be some kind of homo-erotic BDSM club most students avoided.
