Be careful with that. PCs are vulnerable to spikes, surges, and brownouts. Surge protectors and backup PSUs, especially common retail grade, don't always kick in in time. PCs require a very smooth power supply, the tolerances are tight. Complete outages are fine and rarely do any damage to the hardware, though a bad shutdown can scramble/corrupt software, even drivers. Older RJ45 PCI style modems would sometimes get locked in a loop if abruptly powered off when connected. Safest to shut down completely till the disruption is sorted.
Are you with Verizon by any chance? They authorized the strike and there's already rumors of sabotage. I've got FIOS and all is well so far.

Yeah I have Fios, as well as commercial grade APC surge protectors.
