Any local talk about the possible sale of the Bellagio?

Some casinos might be for sale, but pricing them is tricky business - Las Vegas Sun

I know nothing of a possible sale of the Bellagio, but I can tell you this....

I stay in the Bellagio every year, usually in the Autumn, always elegant and beautiful, but I have begun to notice deterioration.

The last year of two, it seems that they have allowed their maintenance schedule to slip a bit. Nothing dramatic YET, but slipping around the edges.

The rooms have been not quite as clean, I have been in rooms with slow drains, A/C not working up to snuff, things of this nature.

Maybe, just maybe, the debt load of the corporation is becoming too heavy to support the empire. (much like the state of New Jersey lol).

I'd say that's typical of MGM - they did the same with Mandalay Bay, and especially THEhotel. They may have to unload all of them at fire sale prices to finish CityCenter.

If I wanted a guaranteed high-quality hotel experience in Las Vegas, I'd stick with Wynn/Encore for now.

All I can say is City Center better deliver as promised...or the company has put itself out of business. I've been saying it all along...City Center will prove to be a boondoggle...not just for MGM Mirage...but for all of Las Vegas.

I have done a couple of things in Bellagio over the last month. Pretty much same old. I would think the problems tend to distort our view.

I am sure at the moment that all the MGM properties are for sale to one degree or another.

I still prefer Mandalay Bay of all the strip places. I have not found Wynn terribly charming.

And I agree they will be in deep yogurt if City Center is not the ultimate.

I agree 100% Ran out of hot water at the MGM Grand, drains clogging, etc. Pathetic. OOPS, but wait I'm sure I'll get a lecture any minute from the guy whose sister does bookings for MGM...

MGM mulling breakup to pay looming debts: report - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090314/bs_nm/us_mgm_breakup_wsj - broken link)

As olecpat has said: "Basically everything is for sale," the paper quoted one anonymous sources as saying.

(including the MGM Grand Detroit)

Personal opinion. If they aren't in deep yogurt they will creat deep yogurt.

The Mother Goose Motel has a management policy that is NOT condusive to happy guest relations.

Such as Overbooking by 350 rooms on a fight weekend and then telling everyone "Sorry" and doing nothing about it.

The Bellagio has taken a marked turn downward since Steve sold it....as has TI and Golden Nugget etc etc etc

That would be so sad. Never mind. That was very old information.

Carl Icahn who bought Fountainbleaue, famously answered a judge, when he was in court that "Everything is for sale - even our wives and possibly our children".

Judge "Even your wife??"

Icahn "Don't tell my wife"
