LOL.

Had to pull in for the night (weather/tired) and stayed at that Ramada.

I agree it's the worse.

twin falls to 93 south
stay on 93 to i-15

you can stay in ely, which is ~4 hrs from twin. there's a la quinta & a ramada inn in ely. from there to vegas is ~4 hrs
I agree with you with one exception. From Ely take 6 to 318 back to 93 will save 40 minutes. However, I can also understand staying on the freeway even if the Highway is 623 vs 757 miles.

The bad part about 93 is that if you get stuck behind a few trucks - there are limited passing areas. What google maps shows as 9:45 travel time could easily be 10:30-11:00. I-15 (for family consideration) has a ton of stopping points, fuel, food, cell coverage and is a consistent 11 hours unless blizzard type snow. Personally I'll always take 15 unless that 1 hour is really critical.

And, Ely...interesting town.

Imagine me, my husband, and my infant child being shuffled around to 4 different rooms at 10 PM by their crackhead houseman because every room had something screwed up in it

I would do somewhere between Orem and Spanish Fork. Orem is about the half way point. Getting to the south side of SLC will put you against most of the traffic flow when you start out on your 2nd day.
