Customers at places like the Wynn have come to expect beautiful waitresses in great shape. If the casino doesn't come through, customers may go somewhere else. From the casino's point of view, why take the risk? It costs the same to hire one waitress as another (aside from training costs which are minimal for this position), so why not choose the ones that are most likely to keep their high rollers coming back again and again?
Exactly.... the customers don't want to look at some old waitress running around with their old wrinkled knockers bouncing off her knees.

Sad, but true. If you have both, looks and personality, bingo, you're in! This is a very 'plastic' city, especially the casino industry.

The ONLY thing that makes it PLASTIC is that THAT is what the customers want and we are here to serve the customers.....They can't get PLASTIC in Punkin Center, Colorado

Ive been cocktail serving for 20 years in the same Atlantic City Casino. I started as a teen. I still wear heels and I still hustle. And it helps keeps my shape tip top. In the past 4 years or so, Atlantic City has fallen below the margins for business. Other casinos rising all around contributes to less bus tourism into Atlantic City. Even though Im a "Senior Server" (one with a decent seniority number), Ive been cut back to only summer work, as an on-call server. They have downsized their staff greatly. Ive been trying to relocate to the other casinos that are opening so I have a chance at some seniority. Having worked at one casino for as long as I have, I feel that Ive done my time at the bottom. And believe me, it took 15 out of 20 yrs to finally become a senior girl, and get a decent shift/days off. But the new casinos are looking for the teens and early 20 aged girls for their "pin-up" look that they want. I havent aged much, and I can wear any outfit, even the "pin-up" type. And I can run circles around those girls who never lifted a tray before (and even those who have). However, Im never chosen. Im professional and Im quick, and Im extremely outgoing and friendly. I love the job, which makes a huge difference as far as attitude is concerned, and Im older and take life more serious. I hear that the younger girls that management seem to always hire either call out half the month, or drink on the job. I understand about starting at the bottom, and its all too true. But it doesnt make me happy

On a good note, Ive managed to land an interview and possible position in a casino in PA. I will most likely start out on-call and working every weekend and holiday. But at least I will have year round work... and with this I am excited. The only downfall is that its 1 and half hours away... 2 hrs in heavy traffic. I hear the money is great. And who knows, maybe another casino closer, doing much better than mine, will give me a shot if they see that this one has taken a chance on me.

Good Luck in your Cocktail Girl job search. Its a great, fun job. Just remember to Smile.

That pretty much describes our society as a whole. It is what it is.

Anyone else notice how old this thread is?

I have seen one, maybe at Harrah's New Orleans (but I'm very not sure about that.) A pretty buffed up guy, wearing a leather vest with no shirt under it. I guess what goes around, comes around (but not very often)

He still works at Bally's I think.. Whats odd is that he's by far and away a better cocktail server than any of those 60 yr old women
