I am being considered for a job in Knoxville and am wondering what the best areas to rent would be to within no more than a 30 minute commute to the city. Thank you.

age/family status/etc are also helpful here because a 40 year old married person may not want to live on Gay St. or next to Neyland Stadium, and a young 20-something single person may not want to live in Loudon.

Ahh, glad you are still here Anthony72. If I were in your shoes, I would probably look for something on the north end of Gay St. area, but still south of the 75/40 Interstate(s). Assuming you don't want land, but prefer a simplified lifestyle.

So many great options! Condo near Market Square is my first thought. If you are willing to commute a bit then check out near Papermill / Northshore but to start with rent near Market Square.
