Once again, Mayfield, Ky. had a run of bad luck with the weather. By the time the rain stopped early this afternoon, we had received 11.28 inches of rain in a 24 hour period. Red Duck Creek that runs through town, flooded homes, churches, businesses. Some people who were just getting everything going again after the tornado were hit another blow. We were fortunate. Our neighborhood is on higher ground and a good ways from any flooded creeks. Only problem at our house is my wife's migraine. She doesn't need a weatherman to let us know when the rain is coming and this round has done a number on her. Probably hasn't slept 3 hours since she woke up yesterday morning.
Another interesting bit of information is there were over 30,000 bolts of lightening over the 4 state area.

Please keep those affected in Mayfield and the surrounding areas in your thoughts and prayers as they get things dried out and replaced.

She and I joke that her migraine will let us know when the rain is coming quicker than the TV weatherman can. lol

Blame it on el Nino sitting out in the pacific ocean. It creates a lot of moisture and warm weather. It's a natural event and has nothing to do with alleged global warming.

After a season or two, it changes places with la Nina, which brings less moisture and cooler temps.

on a humorous side, kind of ironic that the "male" version would be hot, and the "female" version would be cold. (my little joke)

i never understood why people want to drive thru deep waters, especially if the water is moving.

maybe it the feel of the challenge?

then people wonder why so many drown

I agree, especially when people don't need to leave the house during a strong rainstorm, but feel the need to anyway even with children in the car. This happens everywhere.
