^They raised the sales tax? Oh not! Didn't hear that part.
I am usually fixing dinner when the news is on, and just listen mostly though...
Just January so I hadn't noticed yet.
It looks like the raised sales tax is on fairly random stuff, not universal.

As you can see, the increased sales tax is only on some services, not basic hard goods nor food. The state legislature is currently in the process of lowering it again 1/2 percentage point in 2024. The Dem governor will veto this and the Rep state legislature will override the veto again.

Unless something changes the plan of the state legislature is to decrease the state income tax 1/2 percent each year until it's gone.
