We wil be living in eastern Kentucky, nowhere near Louisville. Though it's not near where the kentucky derby is held, are there still tons of fireworks and festivities related to the Kentucky Derby in eastern KY. Also, how long is the celebrating? I've heard 2 to 3 weeks in louisville. Is it anything close in Louisvile? I am so excited about the derby season and hope it is still a somewhat big deal in eastern Kentucky. thank you

need to come to Louisville. Derby is a Louisville thing. All the major festivities are in Louisville. I'd suggest an Airbnb for a couple weeks in the Highlands to experience the city. Google Thunder Over Louisville. Come for that, and return or stay through Derby!

Get on the Churchill downs mailing lists. They will have everything you need. Actually going to the derby is a 3 day commitment these days. Hotels as far away as Elizabethtown jack up their rates that weekend.

When the weather is good, it is breathtakingly beautiful. Get to Dee’s for your hat no later than Easter. Buy the hat first, then pick out your dress.

When I lived in San Antonio, St. Anthony's hotel started roof top Derby Parties. I don't know if they still have them or not. St Anthony is a luxury hotel, also very haunted.
