Not the same thing. Not what I said.
There's a LOT of crime in Mayfield, whether you want to admit it or not.

The crime characteristics of the small towns in this region are all similar. It is different than what one usually associates with crime in more densely populated areas.

There are very few instances where a random individual will assault someone walking through town after dark. Or pull out a gun and ask for your wallet.

The crime falls into a few categories:

Domestic violence is rampant.

There is a sizable portion of the population who solve interpersonal problems with fist fights.

There is also the permanently unemployed, that also often comes with a substance abuse problem, that requires a constant influx of money. Their crime of choice is property theft. Most aren't criminal masterminds, and they don't exert much planning or effort. But if property is left unsecured and in view, they'll take it.

We are approaching retirement and Western KY has hit the radar, particularly the KY Lake area. Mayfield is a beautiful place. I spent many a summers in the Paducah area as a kid. You can't find any nicer people than there and Kentucky generally for the most part.

Good luck in your adventure!
