Hi. My husband will be transferred to a new airport after a promotion. We were told it will be either Blue Grass Airport in Lexington or Tyson McGhee in Knoxville Tennessee . I will post this in Tennessee as well.
I am hoping someone can help me with zip codes or names of towns that would be within 45 minutes of the airport. We are not sure of buying or renting but are already preapproved for a mortage. Trying to be as prepared as we can when they give us the airport because we would have about 45 days to move after notice.
We can spend 1200.00 or less renting and looking to stay in elow 180,000.00 for a home, condo or townhouse.
Thanks alot.

For Bluegrass Airport, you are mainly faced with a choice of west or southwest Lexington or Versailles (pronounced Ver-sales in KY).

40503 (inner west Lex) 40504 (inner sw
Lex) 40510 40513 (outer west areas) 40383 40384 40386 (Versailles).

How about Paris? It's a beautiful town just NE of Lexington. Average home price is about $120,000. It's about 27 miles or about 36-40 minutes to the airport on average. You'll find lots of history, lovely horse farms, low crime rates and affordability with your budget.

Choice depends on density preference / possibly schools.

Traffic heavier toward Lex in morning, heavier away in evening.

Thanks for the Paris suggestion.
My husband works odd hours so the morning and afternoon commute probably won't factor in. Usually a 12 to 9 shift. There are no children so schools dont matter. I'm sorry for not including that info.
Marino760 and NW Crow thank you.

40511 is also close-by and has some new neighborhoods. 40509 is about 20-25 minutes away but is the closest to the interstate and has a lot of shopping (Hamburg Pavillion), medical offices, and restaurants. From there, you could get to the airport via I-75 or Man O' War to New Circle Road. Both take about 20 minutes or so.

Nicholasville would also be feasible. Straight shoot to the airport from the intersection of Nicholasville Road and Man o' War Boulevard.

Depending on his work hours, you probably want to avoid is having to drive on Versailles Road during racing season at Keeneland. I’ve been stuck in that traffic before, if he’ll be commuting during arriving and departing times, I personally would concentrate on 40513, 40514, and 40503. However, a lot of people have better tolerance for blocked traffic than I do.

There are very nice areas to live off of Man-o-War between Versailles Road and Harrodsburg Road.

We live in the 40503 Zip Code. It's a nice area. Not much crime where we live, and close to everything.
The traffic at rush hour can be bad though depending where in that zip code you live.
Homes in this area sell really fast though, so it would be hard to figure if you are talking too far in the future.
Here is what is available in your price range right now....it will probably be a whole new list 2 weeks from now.
