I've rented dozens of places on both VRBO and AirBnB around the world. I've never asked whether the rental is legal. In fact, if it weren't for C-D, I would never have thought about the legality of these rentals. When I listed my house on VRBO ( before retiring and moving in) I got my license and paid my taxes because it seemed like the right thing to do.
