Ormond Beach and Flagler Beach are very different communities. Cars are not allowed on the beach at Flagler Beach and the beach actually sits quite a distance below the roadway there. Access down to beach is via stairs in most areas I am familiar with and finding close-by parking in the area is very difficult on busy weekends. The beach shrinks down to a very narrow area during high tide. Flagler Beach is a very casual place with an "Old Florida" vibe. Cars are allowed on some areas of Ormond Beach. Here is a handy map that shows what you will need to know about beach access in Volusia County. Beach Map north Ormond Beach is adjacent to Daytona Beach. They blend right into one another seemlessly on the south end of Ormond Beach where high-rise condos are prominent. Daytona Beach has a lot of shopping and a lot of tourists as well. The northern end of Ormond Beach is much quieter. Flagler Beach is at the south border with Palm Coast and there are some newer shopping areas on the west side of the intercoastal from Flagler Beach.

I moved to Flagler Beach a year ago. We love it. My wife and are in our 30s with no kids. Between Publix a mile a way a Super Target 5 miles away I have 90% of what I need on daily basis. Honestly restraunts are problem for both cities IMO. Best way I can put it is OB is a small town next to the ocean, while FB is little village on the ocean. The difference coming from the condos and homes that seperate OB from the ocean. FB has no such barrier. Hope that helps.

Neither of these places in the Jax metro. This should be moved to the general "Florida" discussion area.

ALL I know about Flagler Beach is that about six months ago I watched (I'll admit it) one of those cheesy "To Catch a Predator'" shows with Chris Wallace and they used a house in Flagler for the filming. No info on where the predators lived, so they could have come from anywhere in Florida.

Of the 24 men arrested in that report in 2006, only one was from Flagler Beach. It's disgusting, but Florida is full of sexual predators, they could just of easily done this in any other FL city. Flagler Beach is a VERY safe town, most of my neighbors leave their doors unlocked.
