2 points:

1. You could be brain-dead but your heart could still be working and you still living.

2. Your brain could be fine but if your heart stops your brain can't work.

Heart is the crucial element for a living human being. Thus danger, threat, excitement, happiness, peace, love and fear is noticeable in the heart-beat and through the blood pressure. That's why the spiritual balm for your heart rather than for your mental pain.

[13.28] Those who believe and whose hearts are set at rest by the remembrance of Allah; now surely by Allah's remembrance are the hearts set at rest.
It is the 'heart' that remember of the brain with its memory faculty that is responsible for memories and its recall [remembrances]?
You are lost here because you do not understand the nuances within the Quran.

The heart is critical for survival but what is most critical is the brain.
Once a person is certified as brain-dead then that person is officially dead.
It is true the heart do not its own autonomous functions, like the knee jerk and other responses which is not control by the brain.
However as a human being, it is the brain that control the heart. It is the brain that is responsible for fears, worries, psychological pains, etc. and not the heart.

If you read the Quran extensively and deeply, the "balm" is for pains associated with the brain.
If one heart is beating as in a coma but brain is not active, then the person will not feel any physical pains or mental pains, e.g. like worries, angsts, fears, etc.

I suggest you read widely on the above topics before you blurt your next counter points, otherwise you will only be exposed as ignorant on such matters, especially the real meaning behind the term 'heart' and 'breast' of mankind used in the Quran.

Note in the past all human were ignorant of the detail mechanics of the brain. Their focus were on the heart and breasts which was wrong [ignorantly]. The Science of the brain only began crudely from 100 years ago and advanced exponentially ONLY 15 years ago. Btw, I am VERY familiar with the Science of the Brain, i.e. Neuroscience. Your Allah is very ignorant of the mechanics of the brain in relation to the mind plus human nature. That is one of the reason for the evils generated from the Quran [in PART].
