Can anyone personally recommend a adviser from this area to manage a taxable account?

Thanks

PM me if you find one. I've interviewed about 10 there and 9 in Des Moines. I was so annoyed and dismayed that I'm in the process of educating myself to handle everything, both investments and taxes.

I've either run into "salespeople" who are clueless about how to properly put together a portfolio suitable for an older person or hot shots who like experimenting with things like channel trading with other people's money. Ugh.

And don't get me started on the so-called fee-only CFPs. BIG JOKE so far. I'm just about ready to drive over to Omaha and talk with a few folks over there, but I'm not expecting much.

Now I understand why anyone who can just puts everything into IPERS and ignores the financial news as much as possible. Double Ugh.

I haven't even looked because I know what I will find. Buy buy buy!

What I'm looking for is a buy number. Like 1550 on the S&P because I already know what I'm buying.

My first and last adviser invested my money like it was for himself. He was 80. So its retained value

Now that we are tanking again, I want to invest more aggressively hopefully at the bottom.

Predictions?

You have a different problem from mine.

I dunno. Aren't there any meet-ups in Iowa City for day traders and others into stock analysis? Maybe open an account at Fidelity or Ameri-trade that also has some advisers? I know Fidelity (Omaha) does, plus they have their own tools clients can use for research, but whether that's a good place or not, I can't tell you.

Good luck with that!

Pick one of the top three. T rowe price, fidelity or vanguard. I like Vanguard. Then I picked a three fund or lazy portfolio. Balanced like VBIAX and VWELX are also great. Then add a little VTSAX for more performance. International?

Yes, I've been looking at Vanguard. No international at the moment. I want to decrease my exposure to foreign funds right now. Thanks for the tip. I'll research those further.
