Climate wise probably more like Kentucky or the mountainous areas in eastern Tennessee than the rest of Indiana, culturally probably has more similarities to Kentucky than to much of the rest of Indiana, the adage that areas of Indiana south of I-64 should secede from Indiana and join Kentucky isn’t without merit…..

I grew up in the Evansville/Henderson area. It would be fair to say Southern Indiana has more of a Southern influence than Fort Wayne, but Evansville is unequivocally Midwestern. The Ohio River is a noticeable dividing line between Evansville and Henderson culturally.

During the little known Indiana/Kentucky war, Indiana won decidedly after Kentucky tossed sticks of dynamite across the river only to have Indiana soldiers light them and throw them back.
