Anyone have thoughts on the best places (streets, communities, subdivision) to look for a single home or condo for 100k or less? Trying to set up a house hunting visit. Thanks.

There are good buys all over. Esp in Lafayette for that price. Go to REALTOR.com - Real Estate Listings & Homes For Sale and search.

Try just East of Downtown on the hill. I saw FSBO old victorian for $83K. It was on N 18th street between SR 26 and Union. Right next to Murdock Park.

It's a convenient location near parks, hospitals, downtown, and best of all--ARNIS!

Default Specific Community Names?

Thank you for the link. Yes, there were a lot in that price range. However, I was hoping for specific areas eg. Portledge Commons, Amberleigh Village, University Farms, etc.
I found a condo listing for 184 W. Navajo, but as a future transplant, I don't know if Navajo Street is bumpkin land or the ghetto.
The "Find a Neighborhood" option is useful, but I would think the opinions of locals might be more helpful.
I guess I should have inquired about specific community names

With the price range you are looking for, I don't think you will find anything in those neighborhoods. AND... the ones you listed will have much higher property taxes.

I recommend my subdivision, Sagamore Pointe, on Morehouse Road just outside the northwest city limits of West Lafayette and on the greenway bike trail. Streets to search for on realtor MLS sites include Abnaki, Chenango, or Owasco. Adjoining us to the south is Colony Pines subdivision, and there I would only suggest looking at the Halyard east cul-de-sac.

Navajo would be a nice location on the West Side. I have seen some newer homes in the Mayflower or Butler Meadows subdivision for around that cost--and they both seem nice.
