Sorry if this has already been posted but I am curious as to the summer time climate up there. Within the next 2 years or so, I will go up there and check it out for myself, but in the mean time, if you guys can give me any information about the weather up there, I'd really appreciate it. Is it more humid or less humid than Indy? I know that the temps. are not that high during summer but how much of a factor does humidity come into play?!

Not really much difference usually between Indy and South Bend in regards to humidity. Average high in July is mid-80s but days in the 90s are common. Usually as it gets hotter, it also seems to get more humid which makes it worse. Fortunately, the weather pattern usually changes every few days so really hot, humid weather often doesn't last more than a few days before things return more normal. It's certainly nothing like the southeast in terms of humidity.

There really isn't much difference, generally Indy will average about 3-5 degrees warmer on a given day, which during the summer doesn't really equate to much difference in the feeling. Sometimes South Bend will be on the cool side of the humid air mass, but generally there isn't really a difference between the humidity.

Less than 10 days a year are in the 90's, on average. Summer time is usually low to mid 80's. Humidity is here, but nothing like it is south of Kentucky.

I may need to spend up there. It may be a nice second home to escape the summer heat.

If you're looking to escape the heat, I would definitely look into the area. Many people travel to St. Joseph, Michigan, which is only about 35 minutes away from the South Bend area. Great day trip or spend a couple of days there! I go once a week in the summer!

Agreed. We go a lot in the summer. St. Joseph is quite nice, as is most of the Michigan shoreline along Lake Michigan. I've been meaning to go there for some time, but I hear that South Haven, while farther north, is also quite nice, and has a more relaxed atmosphere than St. Joseph, which can get squirrely with college kids and overcrowding on some days.
