My family are relocating to or near Lafayette, IN in the next 4 weeks. We do not know much about the area. As far safety, crime, etc., what are some areas you would recommend for a family?
Thanks for your help.

What are some good neighborhoods? We have two school aged children.

depends on what you are looking for price wise. There are good neighborhoods in different areas all over the city. I live on the far south side in one of the most desirable neighborhoods--but like 2 miles away is one of the worst--so it depends on the particular neighborhood and what you are looking for.

If you are looking for subdivision life stay out of any neighborhood that has "homes starting from 90 or 100"--ha

Also most people prefer Tippecanoe County Schools to the Lafayette City Schools--but that's not to say there aren't a lot of great things going on in LSC and bad stuff happening in TSC

We are looking at renting at first. We are looking to live in or around Lafayette (within 30 min drive).
