Saw this afternoon in the paper that Tom Skilling noted that the temp (heat index included of course) in Alton yesterday afternoon was 124 degrees?!?!?!?!?!?

Does anyone live down there and experience that garbage? That blows my mind. Its sweltering up here today (the last hot day for awhile thank goodness), with 84 degrees with a 90 degree heat index. I cant imagine what another 34 degrees would feel like on top of this CRAP.

It was 103 index at 10:30 p.m. last night. This morning we got nailed with storms that brought winds of what had to be 80 mph. A huge hickory and a huge tulip tree fell on houses on my block, there is at least a 150 year old oak that was sheared off at the bottom, probably 4+ feet diameter, and the entire town lost power for 9 hours+. Wicked stuff.

Funny you mention that, Tom Skilling said that the conditions were exactly that, "Amazon-like". Thats insane.

I remember them days, and miss them!!! You think a few days of over 100 degrees is bad? Come move to AZ--something I wish I had never done. If the job market were better, I would move back to IL in a heartbeat!!!
