My husband and I are going to be relocating to Peoria (to be closer to his aging parents).
We are looking for a gay realtor, simply so that we can find a place in an area that is gay friendly.
I am assuming a gay realtor would know the areas. Does anyone have suggestions?

A real estate broker in Illinois cannot legally steer you to a particular area because of your sexual orientation, race, religion, gender, or national origin. You would be well served to use websites like this to find out your own information about the local gay village. Further, any agent willing to steer you should not be trusted. They’re compromising themselves and their profession.

Sorry if this post created such a stink. I simply don't want to move into an area that is homophobic in an area that I don't know.

I find it interesting that someone on here can anonymously post a comment and yet be protected from a rebuttal.
I am referring to the comment that starts "Odd post. Wouldn't you be outraged...."

Reminds me of when I moved into a GREAT neighborhood when I was married. Safe, great schools, friendly neighbors we were told. And for the most part that was/is true.

And then on Cinco de Mayo I received that anonymous letter advising me NOT to fly a Mexican flag from my home since WE are AMERICANS.... And I was advised NOT to practice "karate" in my front yard since it will teach children to fight.

So good luck. Sometimes the same people who smile at you and say Hello are the same people who will write to you about your "faults."

I have a cousin and his husband that had difficulty with neighbors and from their experience, I can understand where you're coming from.
Good luck on your house hunting!

THANK YOU, Master Jay and Wartrace ! I'm glad someone realizes why I posted this question.
It was not to degrade straight realtors (as was stated to me), or to point out that it might be politically incorrect to ask such a thing. It was simply to ask for help.
