Was listening to Sufjan Steven's song "Concerning the UFO sighting near Highland, Illinois" off of his album
Illinoise , and it got me started down a rabbit hole of Illinois UFO topics. First, that song is in reference to a UFO that was seen across St. Clair, Madison and Monroe counties on Jan. 5, 2000.
Now, according to data cited by Bloomberg, Illinois is apparently a national hotspot for UFO sightings, and Tinley Park (of all places) had multiple mass sightings in the 2000s. Now if you believe UFO lore, it is because Illinois has a large number of nuclear power plants; and UFOs are (allegedly) attracted to nuclear power.

Also, an interesting note is that the Center For UFO Studies is based in Chicago, originally started by Professor Allen Hynek of Project Blue Book. Not sure if it is still affiliated with the University of Chicago.
I don't really have an opinion either way on the validity of UFO sightings, but I was wondering if anyone has any interesting stories to share.

I don't have UFO stories, but I thank you for the information. I had never heard of a UFO/nuclear power plant connection.
