Was browsing Google Earth and saw that a mobile home park I used to live in when I attended SIU back in the late 1980's has been closed.

It was called Reed Station Mobile Home Park. You will see a street called Brandon Circle off of Reed Station, just a bit north of Rt. 13. That, along with the small cluster of streets was the park.

FWIW I lived on Dayton Dr. though back in the day those streets did not have names and you just a lot number. Although it was a remote location as far proximity to the campus was concerned, the older trailer that a friend and I rented was in good condition, price was right, and that park was a decent neighborhood.

I know that student enrollment at SIUC is down, but at the time I was there the park didn't really cater to students, so I wouldn't think it would be affected by the decline in student population.

Just feeling a bit nostalgic and wanted any info people might have on when and why that park closed.

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I know the land was really flat back there, but at least back in the day there were no problems with standing water, even during heavy rains.

If you have any more details on how it flooded and what year that was, I would like to know.

Thanks.
