In my previous state it cost me $60 to license the same vehicle, and $14 for the title transfer.

And the sign by the door with a picture of the Sect. of State says "We want to serve you".

Hah! ok. I still have to do this with 2 more vehicles. And 3 licensed drivers in the house. Yay.

Yep, and it gets better.
I just paid $25 in tolls to drive 100 miles on tollways.
This is almost twice the amount paid in gasoline to travel this distance.

Thankfully I don't have to drive tollways. And people think we should just let the government tax us and provide everything.

I recommend Georgia. https://onlinemvd.dor.ga.gov/tap/welcome.aspx

I just came from FL and was excited it was so cheap. I think it's close to $500 in FL.

other states are even more costly to do license/title transfers; what kills you in Illinois is all the OTHER taxes/fees/charges..

this state is the worst when it comes to cost of living; only surpassed by the nations of New york and California..

There are plenty of other expensive places in the US. Plus, everyone's 'net' will be different depending on their respective needs.

There are reasons I have to be in Illinois. I know...it's a wash. My car insurance actually dropped about $400/year, for one. But $95 for a title and $100 for a license is kind of insane. The title in my last state cost me about $14. It is just a case of sticker shock--wasn't expecting to spend $600 to license the 3 cars we have in our family. And before anyone says it...I know.....#firstworldproblem.
