About 11 years ago I was driving west on I-90 from Montana and I stopped at a gas station and as I was filling the gas I looked around and I seemed to be in some sort of a scenic view of a street with mountains on either sides and I remember looking at the receipt of the gas station and I think it said coeur d'alene.

But now I'm trying to find something along or close to i-90 anywhere near coeur d'alene and I can't seem to find that. I don't have the receipt but I could swear it was coeur d'alene or some surrounding area.

For reference of what I'm talking about, you could search jackson hole downtown in google images, and that's the kind of imagery I was subjected to.

I'm trying to find a term for these kinds of places where you have a long stretch of a street in between two mountains ... I mean it's a valley but really looking for a generic term and specifically where in Idaho I may have stopped.

Do you remember if you were in a town with a bunch of buildings around or was it just a lonely gas station?

Try traveling west in Street View (Google Earth or just Google Maps) along I-90 through Wallace, Kellogg, Smelterville and Pinehurst, etc. too. The Texaco station on Pine St and I-90 Business in Wallace could fit your description.

Time for a road trip, OP. Take the drive again and stop at every gas station that is near hills until you find it.

It is futile to ask where the place with the good view is located in Idaho, because nearly every spot in the state has some sort of good view.

Let us know what you find. A photo would be appreciated.

Rose Lake at I90 and SH3 could also be a possibility if you were not in a town.

I was gonna say Rose lake, just from following I90 on Google Earth and cruising street view There is a gas station there on a long straight road right off the interstate. Couple of them actually.

Wallace would be another, but not very close to Coeur d'Alene.

Sounds like Wardner. It's just off I90 in the Kellogg area.
