Maybe it’s our location but has anyone else found this summer to be much windier than normal around CDA?

It has been windier. There have been a series of weaker Pacific storms that formed offshore northward that keep moving inland, causing wind.

None of them have brought heavy rain, but they're monsoonal, so there have been a lot of showers they brought. If they were weaker, they would stay out in the ocean. If they were stronger, we would get some heavy rain along with the wind.

We’ve definitely gotten some very heavy rain up here in the north. And lots of showers. It’s been a very pleasant summer but we are in a new place on Lake CDA and on Windy Bay to boot. So wasn’t sure if it was a windy summer overall or that Windy Bay is aptly named.

I agree, it's been a little windier here compared to the last few summers. We've also had a more normal amount of rain - about 1.2" so for in August. Just a small amount of smoke in our area which was washed away in the heavy rain the week before last.

All in all it's been a very pleasant summer so far.

Dave

Those weak fronts have helped to keep the fire danger down this summer. Without them all of Idaho would have seen a lot more very hot days that were very dry.

Have not noticed, but we are not out on the prairie or lake. It has been a spectacular summer though.

Here in Rathdrum, haven't noticed much difference from the past two summers. Some days are breezy, some days are calm. I'm very thankful that it hasn't been smoky this summer, (so far).
