Hey guys!

This is my first time visiting the forum and I need your help!

I'm moving to Houston in Dec/Jan and need to figure out where I'm going to live.

A little bit about myself...I'm a 22 yr old male, from the Chicago suburbs, with an intention of only being in Houston for 6 months before my company moves me to another location.

I love to fish, so I was thinking of living close to Clearwater Lake/the bay. However, at the same time I would love to meet a pretty southern girl. I'm kind of at that point where I'd like to find someone serious, but feel like I'll just be lost/lonely in a big city like Houston. Where can I find the perfect balance for someone my age?

Looking to spend under $800/month.

I'm going to be working close to where 45 & route 8 intersect for reference. I've only heard bad things about the infamous Houston traffic.

Thanks guys I appreciate it!

My mistake. I didn't realize that was a loop. South. I'm definitely renting. Will there be stuff to do/people my age to meet?

if you are only going to be here for 6 months it really doesnt matter. Cause you wont be anywhere long enough to realize how bad, or awesome it is.

seems a little weird that you are going to be here for 6 months, but looking to be in a place you can find a lifelong relationship and great friends. thats a tall order in 6 months in any city of the country.

there are 22 year olds everywhere. in any suburb, and in any section of town. The suburbs arent the "hot spot" for young kids, but thats pretty much every city in the country. You may wanna check the heights or midtown/montrose near downtown. A little farther from the bay, and a little farther from your work, but more up your alley for social life and people your age going out and doing stuff.

Pay 200 dollars more and live in midtown in walking distance of the bars. You are here for 6 months. Party it up.

You can drive somewhere to fish.

In 6 months you want to find a girl to get serious with... knowing that you'll be relocated in a matter of months? That ridiculous expectation aside, Clear Lake has a more family-centric feel (as do most suburbs) but being a part of the 4th largest city means there is no shortage of things to keep a 22 year old busy for 6 months.

I suggest you do some online dating sites and specifically get at a women located in the Houston area your age. Let them know ahead of time your situation so you all can have some kind of chemistry, before you move down here and expect some kind of profound romantic spark to last long when your only going to be in the city for a short time.

I'm a 24 year old female and I'm here permanently and have yet to meet a guy I'd consider spending more than two dates with. Jokes aside, Houston is really FUN.

Live in Midtown or the Heights.
