One thing I always try to do when washing glass is to make sure the sun isn't shining directly on it. Everything dries way too fast when it is. Cheers!

It doesn't make much difference what the washing fluid is. Good olde soap / water works, in a pinch spit on it. A squeegee is far better for the first pass. Is how the pros do it.

The secret ingredient is the newspaper. Only the normal black and white pages, not the color / coated pages. Newsprint leaves no lint and has super "Pick up" qualities. After cleaning, immediately "Polish the Glass" with dry newspaper just like cleaning, only the surface is already clean.

The best and fastest is. Soap up and do a good rub over with hand mitt. Squeegee, bluff out with newspaper. Windows actually sparkle.

Hands-down, no contest, there's this & the rest, the best glass cleaner for vehicle windows & exterior house windows is Sprayway's glass cleaner, the pro's choice - go to www.spraywayinc.com

Many glass cleaners have ammonia in them - not so good.

Cost Plus & other big box stores carry Sprayway.

Sprayway glass cleaner is super effective on all glass windows, but only use this product indoors with adequate ventilation.

Disclosure: I am not associated with Sprayway.

Another vote for the sun, the worst culprit.

I use a long handled tool with a 3" long changeable flat razor. A little bit of window cleaner (I'm not loyal) and the glass is showroom clean with a few swipes. The razor lifts off dirt and anything adhered to the surface like fly specks etc. Then use a dust free cloth to dry up the excess cleaner. It's the best and fastest solution I've found.

I use a micro fiber cloth with a little vinegar and a dry microfiber cloth to dry. Works great on mirrors also. No more streaks.

Thanks Donna-50 - I will give that a try. With our recent remodeling project, every single window in our home is trrashed filthy. This will give me an opportunoty to test what many of you have suggested.

Some years ago I had my windshield replaced and the young man had used a foam cleaner. I asked him if he liked how it cleaned. He said so much that he uses it at home and he gave me the remaining. It was great. I used it on several items but what impressed me was how well it cleaned my car windsheild....you see I smoke and that is the toughest to clean.

Well of course that can didn't last and I went on a search. My husband found a different brand last week in an auto parts store. I have used it on the mirrors in the house and it worked great. I haven't ventured to the car yet!

It is: Trouble Free, Part # GC2003 Professional Strength Glass Cleaner 19 oz. spray can and it came from Advance Auto Parts and it also has their name on the back of the can.

I will try it on my now very disgusting car windshield and update you on it's performance.

*******

I had also heard on TV that using just plain newspaper will do the trick. Apparently not for a smoker!!
