In the real estate forum, there is a current thread about using gray paint in homes, with people having very decided opinions about that. Just for fun, which home in a movie do you just "love" the decor and color choices?

With me, it is Diane Keaton's home in Something's Gotta Give. If I lived by the ocean, I would simply copy it as much as I could.

What is your movie "dream home" or one in which you just love the decor?

Yes I loved that house^^^

I also loved Meryl Streep's character's house in It's Complicated. I don't always like open floor plans, but that house is gorgeous! I love the open, airy feel of it.
The exterior of the house was filmed at a real location in Santa Barbara, iirc. The interior was a set put together in NY somewhere.

I may have the details wrong and don't have time to read the article that I link here

I generally don't pay any attention to interior decor in movies- for one, I'm engrossed in the characters, storyline, and dialogue. And two, 9 outa 10X it's a set destined for the dumpster! Good set design "complements" the movie- it's not a character in the movie.

But, there is one set design that definitely stands out in my mind as not only GAUDY, but did play a big part of a character- accent to the main character's role- SCARFACE!

The movie home decor I tend to love wouldn't fit typical US suburban SFHs very well (think 17th century Bavarian castle chic, Mars exploration colony utilitarian, Tolstoy-esque Ural mountain dacha...)

TV show, but Adrian Monk's brother's house. All the Craftsman details.

That’s what I was going to say. I love that house, and everything in it.

The estate or the Mt Rushmore hse?
The estate was “real”. The Rushmore hse was 2 or 3 different sets in Culver City/MGM studios.
