Hi- Just getting started in thinking about re-doing our kitchen. We have new white appliances and won't be changing them. But I can't figure out what cabinets would look best with them. I've seen the white appliances vs stainless steel posts so I know I'm not the only one who didn't go for stainless. So for all of you who have and like your white appliances, what type of cabinets do you have? Or what type do you wish you had? Thanks so much!

We have a light maple (blonde) cabinet with our white appliances. We have a contemporary look and it works very well. Actually we will be changing out our white applicances for stainless when the time comes.

Light cabinets - white, whitewash, or blonde

If I had white appliances, I'd go dramatic, I think. A real "retro" kitchen with red or antique blue cabinets and a white and black "checkerboard" floor. But, that's just me, LOL.

Fruitwood or hickory looks great. It is what we have. Cherry would I think look to stark a contrast. Unless it was the streaky wild cherry with light spots.

Maple is my ultimate favorite and is what we refaced some cabinets in. The Shaker maple style look can go antique looking or contemporary with the right accessories.

Beware the bright or unusual colors. You may actually get tired of them over time.

Yeah, it's SO pretty! My mom bought some old furniture during her restoration hobby days, LOL, and stained it antique blue. It was gorgeous! She fitted them with antique knobs and such. When she passed away, I would have LOVED to take that furniture but couldn't get it shipped reasonably from Pennsylvania to Texas.

With that color in a kitchen, you would have no problem down the road if you wanted to switch to stainless appliances. It would look gorgeous with just about anything.

Maybe a butterscotch or mustard color. Still light with just enough contrast.

I would do a mint green...very fresh looking...with ceramic or glass knobs, white farmhouse sink, and white subway tile as backsplash. Then accents of bright yellow as in lemons in bowls or lemon topiaries...
