City-Data offers a useful feature, an "ignore list". If you don't want have show up on your screen a certain user's postings, you can easily add their name to your list. It is useful when there is a troll that keeps popping up, or to block someone that has a different level of politeness than what you want to be reading, etc.

Go to "My settings" on the far left of the blue bar at the top of the screen.
Go to "Edit ignore list".
Add the username of the person who's postings you don't want to appear on your screen.

When you log on, the ignore feature is activated. If you have not logged on, then all postings will show.

This is always good advice to spread among folks who may be unaware of the feature, but also everyone should remember that if a post/comment is blatant trolling, abusive, or spam in addition to any "ignoring" you choose to do you should definitely hit that little exclamation point icon in the upper right corner of the infringing post to let a moderator know about it.

Per the TOS: English is the only language to be used this board, use translation software if needed.

Ohhh, I don't see any of what you guys have written .... courtesy of my list.

But really, I've "seen" all the postings in this thread (and you've mine), so obviously we are amongst friends.

I'm going to add another idea to this thread:

An anonymous internet forum is open to all types of folks, including those who are 100% pulled together, and those who are not. Thus, it is a good use of common sense to never give your real name or contact information in a forum that is open to one-and-all in an anonymous format.

Happy posting.
