Can someone tell me how to get in touch with the local Democrat party for Virginia Beach? I am used to volunteering in local elections, etc, but we are fairly new to the area and have not had the opportunity to meet fellow democrats yet.

Sorry to disappoint you, but Meyera Obendorf is actually a democrat. The area may be conservative but It may surprise you to know that the majority of council leans democratic, the notable exception is Bill De Steph and Louis Jones (and perhaps Babara Henley and Rosemary Wilson) though they're usually pretty center of the road with their votes. Anyway, for information on where VB dems meet got to www.vbdems.org.

vdogg, thanks, i was just responding to ExCalGirl, being new and not knowing anything of the politics here yet. That is why I want to meet the democrats in the area. I have heard that the democrats in this area are more like progressive republicans, but that is ok I will learn the ropes as quickly as I can. Just can't sit back and let others do what I am not willing to do for myself.
