You spray a fixative or something to keep them in place. My aunt loves the stuff and would have mentioned any fallout. She doesn't wear makeup and is rather indifferent to her appearance. But she is 87 so I doubt anyone else cares. I let her do what she likes.
Justin Hickox seems to give some really useful advice tailored for different hair types. And good call mentioning Toppik - it's definitely a clever temporary option for adding fullness. I'll have to check it out, especially on weekends when I want my hair to look a bit fuller without much effort.
