I'd like to get me a real nice S&W, stainless .357 Model 66 (or whatever the current iteration number is), which they once called the Combat [Mdl 129, not the less visually attractive stainless Model 66...] I think., In a 6 - 8" bbl, with some nice adjustable sights, just for plinking and enjoying the best that S&W has to offer. Of course, if it were a pre- 1980 model, in blue, I'd love it.
(Btw, I carried a now long-gone (what WAS I thinking? Sigh...) Model 29, 4", blued, in the Arctic for over 10 years, and by paying attention to it's maintenance esp. when I brought it in from the cold and put it into a baggie to prevent the inevitable condensation problems..), it stayed pretty much pristine. No problems with bluing or corrosion! How can any aficionado dislike a beautifully blued gun?
Or... an even even hotter wet dream (oppps, sorry for that image...) a gen-you-wine blued Colt Python, similar specs. Just plain nice to shoot. I do see them on gunbroker, and perhaps I should just bite that boolit, since otherwise I'll surely pass from this world without ever having owned one, and I do have quite a load of guns & other stuff I never use now but that I'm a'goin' tah have to sell ASAP anyhow. It's all just gathering dust as it is....
Then, next, I might have to get me an AR platform but in 6.5 Grendell, with of course an 18 - 20: ss. a target quality bbl, and naturally an upper for 5.56, also in 18" but slimmer. and naturally, with some modular upgrades of course. I can't just leave a gun "un-modded" alone after all!
Then, perhaps a nice 1894 Marlin in 45LC, with an octo-bbl. I'd really rather have one in .32 H&R M to go with my now-collectable but pristine blued Ruger SS Six in .32 Mag., which they did do, but not for long, and I don't see them on gunbroker or gunsamerica. Hmmm.
I most probably have a few more "Really wanna own some day" firearms too. Quite possibly acquiring any of them in the political future won't ever be easier [or cheaper...] than now.
The only thing I really want to get now is a Browning BSS, either in 12 or 16. Having said that, if a "just can't pass it up" of something else comes along I'd likely get it.
I'm to the age where my kids are asking to be consulted before I buy a "collectible" (gun, watch, antique mantle clock, etc). I guess they're starting to divvy things up.
I really don't need nor want any guns. If I run across a good price on a PPK, or P38 or Colt 1911A1 I may pick it up. My list is to wait till the prices fall back to normal and then buy some mags for my guns, I could use a few AK metal mags, and would try some of the better polys, SR9 17 rd mag, Drum for the AK, the Korean cheapOs would work for me. Maybe an extension tube for my 870, and possibly a pistol grip for my 500. I have one on it but its not angled quite right.
I had a S&W 500 Mag, with a 8 3/8 barrel. Loved it. But after a couple years, the only place I was using it was at the range. I found "friends" wanted to shoot it more than me and ended up buying ammo and only shooting about 20% of it, myself. So I sold it. I am a practical sort and don't buy guns because they are neat to have. What I own, all have a purpose.
Well, I now find that I need a 500 Mag again. So that is next on the list.
