Not a teacher per se, but a librarian looking to move into a media specialist position.

My husband lost his job 8 months ago. A child made an accusation that he asked her to sit on his lap for a picture. My husband did not do this but it didn't seem to matter. As soon as the accusation was made he was automatically guilty. The police were notified and it took them four months to say it isn't a crime and it doesn't matter if he did or didn't and threw the case out. But his job was gone. He worked for a Catholic school in the private sector so he was told by lawyers that he is an at-will employer and they can fire you without cause and we had no case. So we have been trying to move on but there are no jobs for teachers. He also questions whether it is worth going back to teaching. In May he started subbing. It was a long break over the summer with no job and no money. When Aug came he slowing started getting the calls for work. Then one day he gets a call from the District Office that he can no longer sub. He is told by the Superintentent that a concerned citizen of the community has told one of the School Board members that he should be investigated and not allowed to sub. So the the district office called his previous employer and the principle explained that he left in the middle of the year and will not be allowed to return. This put up a red flag to them. He asked my husband if he would be willing to explain. My husband agreed and told him the whole story. The Super. seemed to agree with him that it was wrong but explained that this is a small town and wasn't sure if this could be changed. The Super said he would talk with the board with his side of the story and see what he could come up with. This just unfolded Fri. Has anything like this happened to you?

I have some info about subbing. It pays little and offers no benefits. It is good experience though. The experience is all that you will get from subbing.
