I am about to turn 50 in March, I have definately observed that my family pays no attention when I am nice and talk softly, but then they say I am mean when I have to shout to get them to listen, I should carry a big stick!I am nice in public, though.

My husband and kids say I'm mean, so I guess I'll fit right in, here.

My name is Patti. I'm from South Carolina. I've been called "Mean" as I've gotten older,too. I agree--it's just a greatly decreased ability to deal with stupidity and emotional handicaps that comes with age. If you can't handle an HONEST opinion, please don't ASK me for one!!

Wow! You mean I can be assertive and confident here and no one will translate it as being 'bitchy' Isn't it interesting, a man who is assertive and direct is considered powerful and a good businssman, but a woman who makes the same statements is considered a '*****'. I think it's actually a reflection of the insecurity of the person who is recieving the message.

I have a low tollerance for stupidity and emotionally crippled people. They ask advice I give it and they say I'm harsh.

Charlotte's my home town. I did a 10 year stint in Miami, Roanoke and Folly Beach betwen 1984 and 94. Back here since.
I've enjoyed reading these posts. LOL I'm not mean either, just a LOT less tolerant than I used to be. Oh yeah! I naturally laugh and smile a lot, but my tail don't wag all the time. I inherited this "give it your best shot" look from my mother. It'll back anyone down. Love that! What's up girls? Big weekend plans?

Okay...another friend of mine has hit the 40 train today. Boy has the past 3 days been crazy, way too much fun involved. There was only 1 person there in their 30's (38 actually), than a bunch of the 40s, and a few 50's. This isn't a bad thing, but boy certainly sound funny it, where did those 20's go? LOL>. Life is good, isn't it! Tomorrow will be a late start, and so be it! Happy 40th Birthday Buddy! Hee hee.
