Moving to San Diego

Group Created by bleugirl

I'm planning to move to San Diego in the next six months. I've outgrown the city I live in and am going to finally move to the city I've wanted to live in my whole life! If you're planning the same move, have just moved, or live in SD and have suggestions, please send me a message or post online. I'd love some advice. :-)

Hello everyone!! We are moving to San Diego area next August(2016).

We work from home, so we're trying to decide which area to live in based on what's best for our small kids.
We have one child who is on the autism spectrum, so if anyone knows the best area for schooling for him. Also have 3 other small kids.

We want a safe area with good schools. Prefer close to coast. $3000-$4500/month for rental. Would like a small house, but with a yard. Nothing big.
    Ideas?

We are moving from Toronto to San Diego this summer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated e.g. safe and family friendly neighborhoods, moving companies, shipping car.
We have 2 boys, 11 and 4 years old, so schools and quality of life for children is also important.

    Hi anapetcu,

I lived in San Diego for 36 years. It is a beautiful city, referred to by many people as "America's finest city". I think you and your fiance' will find San Diego's mind climate to be more preferable to the U.K.'s marine-west coast climate with all it's rain. The downside to living in San Diego, anapetcu, is trying to cope with it's relatively high cost of living. San Diego also has a well developed mass-transit system. You would also have easy acess to Mexico. Good luck to both of you!

We set the date for Nov 1st! I was really hoping for sooner but circumstances will not fall into place sooner. I'm so excited! Does anyone have any advice? How much are you saving, etc. Right now I'm in the spring cleaning stage. Tossing as much as I can.
