Other than Rockford (which I really like) and Ada (seems too new for my taste) what are the other towns near GR that have a lively/walkable downtown area ?

Thanks very much

Other than Rockford and the inorganic(but still cool) Ada, I would say

Lowell
East Grand Rapids
Grand Haven
maybe Greenville

Definitely I would say EGR is comparable to Rockford. EGR’s downtown may be a slight bit more upscale than Rockford, but Rockford is a bit more picturesque imo.

Saugatuck is beautiful. Neighboring Douglas has some charm as well.

They are about a 40 minute drive from GR. Not sure if the OP is looking to be in a GR suburb, or within a certain range.

Thanks, My wife works in Chicago and will need to fly there weekly so staying somewhat close to GRR is important.
