How severe are the insects and humidity across the North Georgia mountain towns? Is there anywhere in the region where you wouldn't get pounded by mosquitos and other pests during the warmest part of the year? Also, what is the prevalance of roaches?

North ga has:

Spiders
Cockroaches
Stink bugs
Wasps/bees
Scorpions
Mosquitos

Compared to the north (mn) , I find the mosquitos to be mild, but still a nuisance in summer. Roaches mostly come out and night and I don’t see many at all. Stink bugs and stinging bugs (wasps/yellow jackets, etc) are very prevalent.

Spiders, no more than other parts of the country. Scorpians are also fairly common in the mountains. They are small, and almost more of an insect than a creature if that makes sense. Most places have ongoing pest control, so most of what you see will be dead.

To my surprise, I didn’t find there to be more bugs done here vs places I’ve lived in the northeast and Midwest. The mosquitos are more mild, but still active enough that you can’t ignore them

Thank you for your thoughts. Are any of these pests a problem through the winter, or does the colder weather tend to keep them dormant?

Well, cockroaches tend to want to come into your house in the winter
