I'm debating whether to relocate to PG County MD or stay in the Atlanta Metro. Currently living in Buckhead.

If I do stay I don't want to live in Atlanta city proper.

Mableton is on my list. I've not had the opportunity to visit but I will.

Any info on Mableton is appreciated.

I'd stick to the northern side of 78, towards Smyrna and the E/W connector.

It probably should be mentioned that the City of Atlanta proper actually makes a very small portion of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area.

The City of Atlanta proper makes up less than 10 percent of the land area and less than 2 percent of the population of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, so most of the population and development of the Atlanta metropolitan area actually exists outside of the corporate limits of the City of Atlanta proper.

Mableton is okay if that is what your budget gets you and that is the type of area that you desire to live in for whatever reason.

Much of the southern part of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, roughly below/south of at least the US Highway 78 corridor that cranberrysaus mentioned (including Mableton and South Cobb County below/south of Georgia State Route 120 as well as Douglas, South Fulton, Central/South DeKalb, Central/South Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, Henry, Clayton, North Fayette and South Paulding counties), compares somewhat closely to Prince George’s County outside of D.C. with a predominantly black/minority population in a predominantly working-class/middle-class suburban and exurban environment.

It’s just that much of the area in question (roughly below/south of at least the aforementioned US Highway 78 corridor through the greater Atlanta metropolitan area) is much more ‘woolly’ (with many more trees and much more vegetation), has a significantly lower density of development and likely features lower housing costs compared to Prince George’s County outside of Washington, D.C. in suburban Maryland.
