It's also an easy drive to some lovely communities like Madison, Greensboro, Social Circle and Washington.

Maybe one downside - $25,000 just to be given the privilege to live there. But, we are retired and living on social security, so that did not appeal to us.

Just wanted to provide some updated info since I've been considering relocating to this area as well. The current cost of entry is a $40K initiation fee that you never get back. It doesn't get you nothing though - it gets you club membership including access to two golf courses, a clubhouse/dining, tennis and other amenities. In addition to that initiation fee, you pay another $300-$600 per month depending on how much golf you want to play. If you want access to all six (soon to be seven golf courses) and all the clubhouses/dining/amenities the cost of entry is $80K plus a larger monthly fee. This area is not my first choice but after six months of looking in my preferred location and not finding what I want, I started branching out my search and found a perfect home in Reynolds so looked into it further. I've never been there but it looks beautiful - love the woods and water. From my discussions with the Reynolds folks, it seems like the entire community is pretty much of a resort for residents - they don't refer to people as residents but as members - kind of an enclave. The nearest town is Greensboro which has a Publix and nothing interesting as far as I can tell. Though we want to live in a golf community, we want it to be in a regular community/town with a variety of residents rather than a 12,000 acre resort with only well to do folks.

Default Reynolds/Lake Oconnee

There are no complaints except cost. So if that's not a concern, do it. We visit retired family there often. It's clean, safe and in my opinion worth the money. A lot of "stars" have homes there as well. It is getting busier so keep that in mind as well. But so is everywhere.
