I'm about 6'2" (I'm by far the tallest amongst my friends and family) and live in Missouri, and I'm taller than nearly everybody here (there are a few guys who are 6'3-6'4", but even those are uncommon). I standout at 6'2" here, although I did recently run into a family of tall guys who were all like 6'4-6'5" (I have issues with perspective, so might've been taller). Even in a state like North Dakota, I feel tall (along with Minnesota) as it was uncommon to spot somebody shorter than me. I feel as if New York City is the tallest city since I would run into at least one 6'3"+ guy in every group of people. I feel tall at 6'2 otherwise (considering the fact that everybody appears taller than they actually are in my eyes to where I see myself as shorter by them when I'm actually taller than them sometimes) and would feel towered over by a 6'4" guy if it wasn't for considering perspective. Do you feel short, below average, average, above average or tall where you live?
I feel average and sometimes below average at 5'11" in Chicago. There's a lot of tall people here and sometimes when commuting on the train it seems as if every guy is at least 6'3" or above. Even in my building for work, some of the women there are over 6'2" with their heels. Really depends on the day but at most for 5'11" - average
I'm 5'6 and from CT and generally see plenty of other guys my height, although I'm shorter than the average guy anywhere I go.
However, when I traveled out to California, I couldn't believe how tall everyone was. I never felt so short and out of place in my LIFE. For that reason, I could never live there.
I could live in a rut and still be short because I am short no matter what the "average" is, I am still short and will always be short. I was born short and there is no reason to change that fact.
I live in Jersey and work in New York. I'm 5'9 and I feel short more than average at times. In my dept, most of the guys are at least 6'1. None of the men who are directors or managers are under 6'. There are bout 30 or so guys in my dept. I believe taller guys usually have higher rank positions. Or is it just me? In general, guys in NYC metropolitan area are at least 6. Black and white dudes being the tallest
