At my local extension office the garden showed my a beautiful red shield hibiscus that had dark purple leaves that looked like a maple only as more a bush. I have never seen these in the nursery but see them offered as seeds from catalogs.

I'm zone 9 NE florida, what would be the proper way to start from seed?

Or does anyone in the Jax area know nursery that would sell?

I have never started hibiscus from seed, but what I would try well after going back to the extension office and asking for a cutting would be to put the seeds in pots then put the pots in a big zip bag in a well lite area (not full sun) inside and the zip bag will act like a "greenhouse" to speed the germination

You can also try calling Plant Ranch on beach blvd to see if they can order one for you .
