Potentially, OP could've/might've wasted a trip, if she wasn't going to buy other groceries at this store.
For instance, there are 2 grocery stores I usually shop at, but there are certainly other grocery stores in my general area. IF I see a great bargain at one of those stores I don't USUALLY shop at, and I go to that store expecting the bargain, only to find out it was a misprint...well, I think they SHOULD honor the misprint. Especially since I think most states have anti bait and switch laws. (But I might be wrong on that.)
Actually that is what happened, I shop at this store but not regularly, I had just been to Winco and Safeway and I went out of my way with the ad in hand to get the Tri-Tip at Raley's. Crazy cheap prices while not the norm do happen here from time to time, I bought New York steak at an Asian grocery a few weeks ago for $3.49 a pound, at most stores here it would be around $8.99. I always look for bargains. I shop with a list categorized by store so that I can take advantage of the best prices.

I went to the store the other day and bought some treats. A salad I made myself for $5.99 a pound and olives from the olive bar for $7.99 a pound. When I got to the checkout, one of the managers was there and I told him the container of olives was from the olive bar and it was $7.99 a pound. He told me I was wrong and they were the same. OK. I wasn't going to fight with him about it so I just let him charge me the lower price. My conscience was clear!

I don't think you did anything wrong. It's the store's responsibility to check their advertisements.

That said, I would probably put this in the category of "cheap" rather than "frugal". To me, frugality is about adjusting your lifestyle, while cheap is finding ways to get the same goods at a cut price.
