In 2013, average monthly bill was $55
So far in 2014, average monthly bill is $75
For the same amount of water.

No sewer, on septic. All native plantings. 1 person household.
I can't conserve any more than I have been, but they keep raising the price.
I gotta move to water country.

My last water bill = $53 per month (quarterly billing)

It breaks down this way:

Sewer Gallon................$29
Base Sewer Charge.......$103
Water Gallon................$17.50
Base Water Charge.......$10

I don't use a lot of water, but getting rid of it costs more.

It'd be helpful to also say how many ppl in the household.

I pay about $6-7 per month (1 person), which is pretty low. I think working from home a lot cuts down on the freq that I need to do laundry.

Share water meter with 2 townhouse neighbors so we split according to % usage (each unit has a meter but there is a separate central meter for the entire building that is connected to the town meter reader). Don't know if I'm paying more or less than if I was on a separate meter. Rates are higher when usage goes up but we only pay the admin fee 1x that's split 3 ways.

this past winter, i shut off my fridge (unplugged it) and just kept my pasta sauce outside my window (i mostly ate pasta that month) to prevent bacterial growth. that's all i needed to refrigerate. anyhow, my electric bill dropped only by about $20 to $30 that month. totally not worth it.
OP, I didn't know living in NY is not that much more expensive than Boston ( you mentioned the rent you pay is 1350 w heat/hot water).

About saving electricity. I was out of town almost the entire month and my elec bill wasn't much lower than when I was home all month. Usually I pay 35 bucks in the winter months and when I was gone, it only dropped to mid 20's. Only thing running was the fridge and the heating system minimally (gas forced air heating which uses elect for the blower). So that means it only costs an extra $10 to run the tv, electronics, cooking, more heating, lights, etc. Which was a little surprising.

We own a home, two adults and 4 kids, water and sewer combined is approx $100 per month. I could probably manage to get it down to about half that if I could get my wife and 3 girls to take reasonable length showers! Laundry for 6 uses a lot too, even with a water/energy efficient washer.

Denver, CO
2 adults
1900 sqft house
small (600 sqft) lawn on a 3000 sqft lot

$34/mo (wqter + sewage)
Usage varies from 3-4K gallons in Winter to 10-11K in Summer.
I figure that every time I run the sprinklers, it is 500 gallons.

Hi! I wanted to ask you a question, where do you live to get that low payment per month, and also, what company do you use to get your water unmetered??

$30 a month, sometimes a dollar or two more. 1 person in a mobile home. I don't have a washing machine, I use it to wash dishes, to flush the toilet, wash hands and shower. I used to water plants outside every day and it was the same amount. I don't see the water bill or even know if it's accurate, I know a few times it was the exact amount for 2 times in a row so I find that fishy and I think the property manager just estimates.
