yes, that seems about right. So the right range for two people was around 40-$50 tops. Something's up.....need to call the tenants to get to the bottom of it.

kdzgon.....
$20,000 a year for insurance? I find that impossible to believe. If that were the case there wouldn't be anyone living on the water. I live on Pine Island and pay about $2700 a year.

I'll second Mike P's post. $2000 certainly. $20,000, no way. Something's very wrong there indeed.

We didn't buy on the water, so I'm not talking about a payment we have. We did, however start by looking for something on the water and that was the range of quotes we received - all in the range of >$18,500 - $20,000+. After those estimates we switched our search to further inland. Our quotes for our home there (east of 75) still started at >$4,000, although our final quote was $1,299. Ironically, when I posted the info re: our Fl HO policy, there were several posters claiming how I must have the wrong info or a fly-by-night company, and how expensive insurance is in Fl! Kind of ironic, IMO....

BTW, I'd say a mansion in Beverly Hills has a much smaller risk of hurricanes, so I'm not sure the insurance comparison is quite valid. I'd guess the risk of an earthquake and/or mudslide etc for a home there is likely less than the risk of a hurricane for a home directly on the water in SW Florida.

Default some bad points of cape coral

1.Cape coral is called a boating community but don't keep it at your house unless it is behind the back of your house ( many places you can't get it to the back of your house with out getting on neighbors property)
2.There are very limited boat launch areas with sufficent parking in the cape the best one is at the yacht club. another one that was at the end of chiquita that is now part of cape harbor.
3.If your have a utility trailer you must rent a storage area to keep it at so if you use it regularly this can be quite an incoveinence. We pay taxes, mortage, insurance on our property and we can't use it as our own.
4.Do not have your garbage can's on the side of your house you have to keep them out of sight in your garage.(real healthy)
5.If you work for a company that gives you a vehicle such as a van or truck with a name on it you must cover the markings up many times resulting in worse looking than seeing a company name.
6. the toll of $1.00 to get on and $1.00 to get off is costly and backs up traffic at times that can add up to 1-1/2 hrs to get on or off and if there is an accident on the bridge add a couple of more hours.
7. If you are in need of a cop just go to a road with construction signs and speed(these can be found everywhere)
8.I would suggest that anyone thinking of buying in cape coral get a copy of their codes and ordinences book and read them.

From this post, it's clearly apparent that you don't live in Cape Coral.
