Just wondering how gay friendly Plantation is? I know Ft. Lauderdale is but I would prefer to live outside of the city. Thanks.

You will be fine in just about the entire Ft. Lauderdale area except for in a few very isolated enclaves. Plantation would be 100% fine.

Yes, we have dear friends who live in Plantation and they have never had any problems.

Maybe look into Oakland Park. It’s the suburb north of Fort Lauderdale and is becoming very gay friendly. Still sort of urban, less suburban than Plantation for sure, but not as urban as downtown Fort Lauderdale.
